And it's kind of like someone focusing on Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson's lone rushing touchdown in the recent BCS championship game against Alabama. Sure, that was a great moment for Domers, but the Crimson Tide still crushed the Irish.
So whether or not the "surge" "worked" in 2007 is beside the point. The war was still a disaster for the United States. That's the important lesson here.
