The Trib has been running...

...a great series lately, "Countdown to high school football kickoff." (Great, at least, for high school football junkies like me.) Today, it's:

(19)80: Year Mount Carmel won the first of its 12 state championships. Was the lone title under coach Bill Barz; remaining 11 under Frank Lenti.

That's astounding. Twelve titles in 33 years? That means every three years (actually more often), you can count on the Caravan winning a state crown. Wow!
