As long as I'm on this...

Quarterback Alex Wills of Montini.
...undefeated teams kick, perhaps it's worth mentioning that there are three unbeaten teams left in 6A and nine -- count 'em, nine! -- in 5A.*

How many will there be after this weekend?

The three undefeated teams in 6A are Rock Island, Boylan and Lincoln-Way North. Only the latter will be tested this weekend, however, against Lincoln-Way West (5-1) at home.

In 5A, the nine undefeated teams are Montini, Sycamore, Kaneland, Washington, Limestone, Highland, University, Rich Central and Glenbard South.

After this weekend there can be at most eight since Washington will travel to Limestone. And after Week Eight there can only be seven as Kaneland will play at Sycamore.

(I know what you're thinking: But doesn't University play undefeated Mahomet-Seymour in Week Eight? Yes, but the Bulldogs are in 4A.)

Among the others, only four will face winning teams: Montini hosts Marian Central (5-1), Sycamore travels to Rochelle (5-1), Kaneland will be at home against Yorkville (4-2) and Glenbard South will host Fenton (4-2).

Only one, Highland, will face a 3-3 team, at home against Waterloo. Will it be the Bulldogs' Waterloo? (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Enjoy the games!

* There are five undefeated teams left in 4A, eight in 3A, nine in 2A and eight in 1A. But I'm not going that deep into the weeds.
