My three games...

...for this week will be:

Thursday: Warren (2-0) @ Lake Zurich (2-0)

Warren isn't ranked by the Sun-Times but is ranked No. 20 in the Trib and No. 47 by MaxPreps. In their first two games, the Blue Devils have scored a total of 84 points (home team in CAPS):

Warren 42, LYONS 35
WARREN 42, New Trier 6

Lake Zurich, a perennial Class 7A power, is ranked No. 2 by the Sun-Times, No. 3 by MaxPreps and No. 4 in the Tribune. The Bears have yet to allow a point this year:

Lake Zurich 33, FREMD 0
LAKE ZURICH 25, Cary-Grove 0

In the last meeting between the two teams in 2012, Lake Zurich topped WARREN 17-13. This could be a very good game: Warren's high-octane offense against Lake Zurich's stingy defense. Do I smell an upset?

Friday: Wheaton North (2-0) @ Wheaton Warrenville South (2-0), above.

This contest should surely be the Game of the Week: two undefeated crosstown rivals in the same conference. You don't think these kids will be sky-high for this game, do you?

Wheaton North is ranked No. 4 in the Sun-Times, No.6 by MaxPreps and No. 9 in the Trib. Falcon quarterback Clayton Thorson, a Northwestern commit, is arguably the best QB in the state of Illinois:

WHEATON NORTH 42, Cary-Grove 18
Wheaton North 40, GENEVA 27

Wheaton Warrenville South, after missing the playoffs last year, is ranked No. 8 in the Trib, No. 9 in the Sun-Times and No. 13 in MaxPreps. Are the Tigers back? So far they've defeated two really good opponents:

WHEATON SOUTH 17, Glenbard West 14
Wheaton South 30, MAINE SOUTH 10

WHEATON NORTH won the last meeting between these two DVC powers, 23-13.

Saturday: Aurora Central (2-0) @ IC Prep (1-1)

This is admittedly a whimsical choice; I couldn't find a marquee game for Saturday.

But I'm intrigued by IC Prep. The Elmhurst school has only about 320 students. If half of them are boys, does that mean that about 25 percent are on the football team?

Also, IC Prep's tagline, according to its Web site, is The School for Independent Thinkers. (I'll have more to say on that later.)

The Knights, who won the 2A crown in 2008, are currently ranked No. 151 by MaxPreps. IC has split its first two games:

IC PREP 47, Noble Street College Prep 6
KANELAND 45, IC Prep 14

Aurora Central, for its part, is ranked No. 219 by MaxPreps and is undefeated (although the first game was won by forfeit):

AURORA CENTRAL 1, Oostburg (WI) 0
Aurora Central 42, BOGAN 7

The last meeting between the two was a shutout by IC Prep over AURORA CENTRAL, 33-0.
