Gov. Rick Perry of Texas, according...

...to an article in today's Times, may be a candidate for president in 2016.

Let's see, if you include Congressman Paul Ryan, Sens. Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, Govs. Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker and Chris Christie, former Gov. Jeb Bush, and 2012 candidate Sen. Rick Santorum, that would make ten possible candidates -- so far -- for the Republican nomination in 2016. (And I'm sure I've left out a few.)

So, after the GOP primaries -- in which everyone will have to prove how conservative he is -- how bloodied will the eventual Republican standard-bearer be?

P. S. I'll bring the popcorn.
