Speaking of Mitch Daniels, the Times...
...reports this morning, "A Potential Candidate In No Rush for a Race" (my emphasis):
Asked by a television interviewer if he would like to run for president, Mr. Daniels replied: “Would I like to? No. What sane person would like to?” He said that he had not spent his life preparing to be president, but that “I agreed at the behest of a lot of people to give it some thought.”
Walter Mondale demurred on a presidential run in 1976 by famously saying that he lacked the requisite "fire in the belly."
Remember the last Republican who had to be talked into running for president? (Hint: he's now making reverse mortgage commercials.)
