The Senate defeated repeal...

...of Don't Ask, Don't Tell last night, 57-40. Sounds like a "shellacking," to borrow a term from President Obama. Except that repeal garnered 57 votes; opponents could only muster 40. So even though the Senate approved repealing DADT by seventeen votes, the measure still failed.
