An article in the Times...

...today, "Atheist Ads on Buses Rattle Fort Worth," is notable for two reasons.

The first is the name of the national director of the United Coalition of Reason, Fred Edwords. Yes, that's Edwords with an "O." You don't suppose people ever spell that with an "A," do you?

The second is the theists' message on the vans: "I still love you. -- God." And, "2.1 billion Christians are good with God."

Now, I certainly can't take issue with the second sentence. But the first one, "I still love you. -- God," implies that the ad buyer knows the mind of God. Assuming that God exists, how exactly does one go about knowing what's on His mind? And don't tell me that it's in the Bible, because the Bible was written by men. And don't tell me that they were inspired by God, because you could then say that about the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution or even the Republican Party Platform.

Oh well, Merry Christmas everybody.
