...of typefaces, died at age 84. (Since when do typeface designers make the obituary page of the New York Times?)

You don't suppose Young ever had trouble with that first name, do you? How about: all the time.

I'll bet his first day of class was pretty much the same every year:

"...Van Deventer, Kevin. Don't tell me; you're Dutch, right? Ha, ha.

"Wilson, Charles. Is that Chuck or Charlie?

"Young, uh ... Donald? Huh? Oh, it is Doyald? I thought that was a misprint..."
