My two up and coming Big Ten teams split...

...with Michigan State defeating Wisconsin, 25-24, while Minnesota was upset by Northwestern, 24-17. The Spartans trailed at home the entire game until :07 left when they scored the winning field goal.

Minnesota lost on a heart-breaking interception that Northwestern returned for the winning touchdown in the final minutes of play. The Wildcats stunned the Gophers in Minneapolis, largely on the rushing of reserve quarterback Mike Kafka (great name), who ran for over 200 yards. Northwestern's star running back, Tyrell Sutton, was also out with an injury. Is this the same team that lost to Indiana last week?

Meanwhile, hapless Michigan lost again, this time to Purdue, arguably the worst team in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are now ineligible for a bowl game. Their 33 consecutive appearances was the longest current streak in college football.

Glad I didn't rake leaves.
