Don't like my choice...

...yesterday of Bolingbrook at Hinsdale Central for the opening game of the 2013 Illinois high school football season?

Well, how about Glenbard North at Batavia? It would be your first opportunity of the year to see the highly-recruited Justin Jackson of GBN, above, arguably the best running back in the state.

Last year Batavia defeated the Panthers, 42-41, in Week One en route to an undefeated regular season. (The Bulldogs were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Downers Grove North, 38-26.)

Glenbard North, for its part, recovered from the opening loss to win twelve straight before losing to Mount Carmel, 28-14, in the Class 8A finals.

Can Batavia do it again? (They'll be at home this time.) Will they be any good this year? Or did the Bulldogs  graduate a bunch of seniors? (I don't know; somebody help me out here.)

But coach Dennis Piron has lost only two games in his first two seasons at the helm of Batavia. Wow!

Panthers' Coach Ryan Wilkens, in comparison, is 66-28 in nine years at GBN. Double wow!

Could be a heck of a game.
