My mother is 92 today...

...and Bob Burnett (lower left), one of the original members of the Highwaymen, died last week at age 71. What's the connection? None, really. Except for the song, "Cotton Fields," released by the folk group in 1961.

I doubt if my mother ever visited Louisiana or Texarkana. Or even saw a cotton field, for that matter. But she did rock me in the cradle, if only metaphorically. Because, you see, she was a great mom. A great mom.
