Remember the firestorm...

...President Obama caused when he wanted to speak to America's school children last fall? Remember how silly that was? The chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, Jim Greer, appeared on Hardball at the time to explain (or try to) his objections to the president's speech. I remember thinking, Who the "Joe Biden" is this guy?

Well, he's back in the news:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The man chosen by Gov. Charlie Crist to lead the Republican Party of Florida is under criminal investigation after a new audit showed that he may have steered nearly $200,000 in party money to a company he owned.

The Republican Party of Florida released an audit on Wednesday showing that Mr. Greer owned 60 percent of a company, Victory Strategies of Tallahassee, that was paid more than $199,000 by the party last year for fund-raising and consulting services.

“During the course of the ongoing internal audit it was discovered that the Republican Party of Florida may have been the victim of illegal criminal activity on the part of one of its vendors, controlled by a senior-level official,” State Senator John Thrasher, the party’s current chairman, said in a statement.
