George F. Will used to be...

...one of the most respected opinion makers in Washington, but seems of late to be getting more and more irrelevant. His columns, though, are still good for the bits of trivia he uses to show off his vast knowledge (and that of his staff).

Today, for example, Will takes up the prospect of Jon Huntsman as his latest alternative du jour to Mitt Romney for the 2012 Republican nomination. (This is after first pushing Mitch Daniels, who declined to run, and Tim Pawlenty, who remains -- after about two years of campaigning -- mired in single digits in the polls.)

Just give it up, Dorothy George, and accept that Romney will be the Republican nominee in 2012 (and perform even worse than John McCain in 2008).

Oh, I almost forgot, that piece of trivia from Will's column that I liked this morning:

If Barack Obama wins a second term, this will be the first time there have been three consecutive two-term presidencies since Jefferson, Madison and Monroe between 1801 and 1825.
