...earlier thoughts on Margaret Thatcher, it occurred to me that not only do nations -- like Great Britain in the 1970s -- sometimes need to be brought back kicking and screaming from the ideological extremes, but political parties as well. And what the Republican Party could use more than anything else right now is a Margaret Thatcher-like figure to drag the GOP back to the sensible center. Who could that person be? Honestly, I can't think of anyone on the current scene; it would take great courage.
