In a postscript...

...to the series on my trip out West, there are just a few things I forgot to mention.*

(1) According to my son, many of those truckers you see on the Interstate use methamphetamines to stay awake for the long routes. To save time, they urinate in old Gatorade bottles which they then throw away along the road. Meth addicts, in turn, look for these bottles and drink the urine in the hope of ingesting trace amounts of the drug.

Charming.

(2) Also according to my son, the best way to disarm a scorpion -- "I saw it on TV" -- is to immobilize the arachnid with a stick while simultaneously cutting off its stinger. The scorpion is completely docile afterward and no danger to anyone. "Why don't you just smush it with your shoe?" I asked him. Shoulder shrug.

College boy.

(3) Lastly, what the heck kind of a name is "Plan Check" for a restaurant anyway? According to its Web site:

The Plan Check name and brand stem from its location, adjacent to the Building and Safety Department, where hundreds of Architects, Developers, Designers and Engineers flock daily to get plans reviewed for permitting. It embodies the architectural / creative lifestyle and the culture that surrounds it, effortlessly blending vintage architectural office elements with industrial pieces, rich materials and a warm atmosphere.

Lame.

* Why is postscript abbreviated as P. S. if it's only one word?
