Ever wonder, "What's the story...

...with the express lanes on the Kennedy (in Chicago)? How do they decide when to change them? What do they do? How long does it take?"

In this video, Stephen Peters, of the IDOT Command Center in Schaumburg, answers all of those questions -- and more. For example, "Is it unusual for motorists to queue up and dart into the lane the second the gates open? Would it be a good idea to try to run the gates as they're closing? And what happens if a motorist has a flat tire while the lanes are changing?"

(Raz Berrios, IDOT minuteman, contributes his take "from the ground" in an excellent Shi-Kahh-Go accent.)
