I saw three new teams...

...over the weekend, added one to my rankings and retired six others.

Of the 32 schools I've seen this year, 20 are still in the playoffs. Bartlett, Niles North, Taft, Willowbrook, St. Francis, Glenbrook South, Niles West, Benet, Whitney Young, Crete-Monee, Aurora Central and IC Prep are all done for the year.

Interestingly (to me at least), the first eight teams I watched this year, Mount Carmel, St. Patrick, Phillips, De La Salle, Marist, St. Rita, Neuqua Valley and Naperville Central, are all still in contention.

Here's how I would rank the teams left standing after Round One:

8A

1. Glenbard North (9-1)
2. Bolingbrook (10-0)
3. Homewood-Flossmoor (9-1)
4. Loyola (9-1)
5. Neuqua Valley (9-1)
6. Marist (7-3)
7. Naperville Central (7-3)
8. Warren (7-3)
9. Notre Dame (7-3)

7A

1. Mount Carmel (9-1)
2. St. Rita (9-1)
3. Lake Zurich (9-1)
4. Wheaton North (8-2)
5. Wheaton Warrenville South (8-2)
6. Fenwick (9-1)
7. St. Patrick (7-3)

6A

1. Providence (6-4)
2. De La Salle (6-4)

5A

1. Glenbard South (10-0)
