In case you didn't...

...notice, Glenbrook North (above), Oswego, Lemont, Bradley-Bourbonnais, Rolling Meadows and West Aurora are all still undefeated at 6-0. This week looks good for each of the six teams with the possible exception of Lemont:

Glenbrook North vs. Deerfield (3-3);
Oswego vs. Joliet Central (1-5);
Lemont vs. Thornton Fractional South (5-1);
Bradley-Bourbonnais at Urbana (0-6);
Rolling Meadows vs. Elk Grove Village (0-6); and
West Aurora at West Chicago (1-5).

(By the way, Oswego beat Oswego East, 21-3, containing Ivory Kelly-Martin, arguably the state's best running back.)

Now while we're waiting for Mike Helfgot to come out with his rankings it's worth noting a few other scores from Week Six.

Neuqua Valley (6-0) beat Naperville North, 35-20, in the battle of the undefeated Naperville and DuPage Valley schools (and my Game of the Week).

Loyola (6-0) had no trouble with St. Rita, 35-3, in a driving rainstorm (in what would have been my other Game of the Week).

St. Edward (5-1) of Lakewood, Ohio (5-1) beat visiting Naperville Central, 35-14, in interstate play which is always interesting to me.

Brother Rice (6-0) finally beat Mount Carmel at home, 49-42, despite two late turnovers. (Will the Crusaders and Loyola both be undefeated when they meet down in Mount Greenwood in Week Nine?)

And Hinsdale Central (6-0) topped Glenbard West, 31-30, in overtime to hand the Hilltoppers their second loss of the season. Glenbard West hasn't had such a slow start since 2007 when they began the season 3-3. And things don't get a whole lot easier for the Hitters as they host undefeated Oak Park and River Forest this Saturday.

Before I go, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Glenbrook South, Elk Grove Village, Joliet Catholic, Conant and Proviso West are all still looking for their first win. Did you ever think you'd see the day when Joliet Catholic was 0-6? When was the last time the Hilltoppers missed the playoffs? This week only Proviso West looks to notch its first victory (although they lost last week to previously winless Proviso East).

GBS vs. Evanston (4-2);
Elk Grove Village at Rolling Meadows (6-0);
JCA at Benet (5-1);
Conant vs. Palatine (6-0); and
Proviso West at York (1-5).
