Niles North upset Maine South, 45-44!

From Matt Harness, writing in the Sun-Times:

After Niles North senior BJ Beckford missed a three-pointer on the other end with time running out, Billy Voitik, above, won the loose ball and was fouled with 2.4 seconds remaining in regulation. His free throw snapped Maine South’s 17-game winning streak and avenged a 64-61 double-overtime loss to the Hawks on Feb. 20.

Despite a clear height advantage (I'd like to see the statistics on rebounds), Maine South had trouble scoring from under the basket last night. And I don't recall the Park Ridge squad ever having the lead in the game. Remarkable for a No. 1 seed.

Can the Vikings beat the winner of tonight's Notre Dame - New Trier contest?
