Bonnie Franklin, who played...

...Ann Romano in the television series One Day at a Time in the 1970s and ’80s, died at age 69. (I had a big crush on Valerie Bertinelli, the younger daughter in the show. She went on to marry the rocker Eddie Van Halen.)

One Day at a Time was created by Norman Lear and Whitney Blake, who played Dorothy Baxter in the early 1960s sitcom Hazel. (Why is "Mr. B" laughing so hard in the credits above?)

Ms. Blake, like Ms. Franklin's character, was also a single mother, and raised the future actress Meredith Baxter. Ms. Baxter starred in the 1972 series Bridget Loves Bernie, which ran for only one season.

I had a crush on Meredith Baxter, too. (I had a lot of crushes back in the '70s.)
