Ferrol Sams, a country doctor...

...turned famous novelist, died at age 90. The cause of death? Well, let's just say it wasn't cancer, heart disease or even a fall. In fact, it's one I have to admit I'd never heard before:

The cause, said his son Ferrol Sams III, also a doctor, was that he was “slap wore out.” 

Must be some medical term only physicians use.
