Evan Connell, who wrote...

...the novel Mrs. Bridge in 1959 and its sequel Mr. Bridge a decade later, died at age 88. The two books were combined for the 1990 movie Mr. and Mrs. Bridge (where do you suppose they got that title?), starring Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

It's a good flick, by the way.
