...last night didn't disappoint (except that it wasn't televised!): Neuqua Valley defeated Waubonsie Valley in double overtime, 35-34.
In other games this weekend:
Glenbrook South 45, Waukegan 7
Titans are now 4-3; at Niles West (5-2) next Friday.
Loyola 49, Fenwick 28
Ramblers are now 6-1; host Brother Rice (4-3) next Saturday.
Palatine 42, Conant 27
Pirates and Schaumburg should both be 8-1 when they face each other in Week Nine. (My Game of the Week on October 19 may surprise you.)
Stevenson 22, Lake Forest 16 (OT)
Patriots are now 7-1. Next week's opponent, Lake Zurich (5-2), lost to Libertyville, 3-0, however, eliminating next Friday's contest from Game of the Week contention. (I have a better one in mind, anyway.)
Lakes 42, Grant 14
Eagles and North Chicago should both be 8-1 when they face each other in Week Nine.
Leyden 42, Willowbrook 0
Eagles (again with the Eagles!), 3-6 last year, could finish the season 8-1. Nice turnaround for Coach Tom Cerasani!
Marian Central 49, Montini 24
Hurricanes should enter the playoffs at 9-0 for the second year in a row.
