When I first heard...

...President Obama give this speech to the troops in Afghanistan, and at about 9:40 he started to say, "...but there's a light --" my Baby Boomer, Vietnam Era, aging peacenik brain finished it with, "...at the end of the tunnel."

That, you may recall, was what General William Westmoreland said in 1967, just before the Tet Offensive. And, before that, by French General Henri Navarre in 1953.

The president made a commitment yesterday to Afghanistan through 2024. (I'll be 65 years old -- a senior citizen.) Now, as any reader of this blog knows, I am "in the tank" for Obama. But, after hearing this, I have to ask: Mr. President, what the heck are you thinking?
