Here's a perfect example...

...of why people just don't like Mitt Romney.

In this interview, at about 2:33, Wolf Blitzer asks the candidate's wife (who, by the way, stays remarkably on message the whole time -- boy, are these two disciplined!): "Is it true, that you had to talk him into running again?"

"It is true," comes the reply.

What? This guy's been running for president almost non-stop since 2004!

Mrs. Romney then walks us through the thought process that ended -- amazingly -- in Mitt's deciding to give it another try.

"Did she talk you into running? Were you reluctant to run again?" Wolf prods.

"I was open to it," Mitt concedes.

Who does this smarmy used-car salesman think he's fooling?

And that's the problem with Mitt Romney: not that he's slippery -- most politicians are -- but that he insults people's intelligence. Of course he wants to be president. He wants to be president so bad he can taste it. So don't try to act like you had to be persuaded. That's insulting. And people don't like to be insulted.
