Some interesting facts...

...about George Papandreou, the prime minister of Greece, from the Times:

* He is a son and grandson of former prime ministers.

* His mother was an American. 

* He is more fluent in English than Greek.

* He was born in Minnesota and spent formative years in Berkeley, Calif.; Canada; and Sweden.

* He attended Amherst College in Massachusetts.

* His roommate at Amherst, Antonis Samaras, is now the leader of the New Democracy opposition party and agreed to join a coalition government only after Mr. Papandreou stepped down.
