When I heard about AOL's $315 million...

...acquisition of The Huffington Post yesterday, two thoughts immediately went through my mind:

(1) $315 million is not a lot money these days. And,

(2) This confirms it; Arianna Huffington is a genius.

From an article in the Times this morning:

Given the amount of momentum the site currently has — over 30 million people a month visit, according to Quantcast — some people, including competitors, were surprised that the team chose to sell.

I agree. If The Huffington Post was really worth $315 million, Ms. Huffington would have hung on and sold it in a few years for $1 billion.
