Bill Daley is a (mostly) good choice...

...for White House chief of staff. While Daley has opposed much of the president's agenda so far, that's now water under the bridge. The first two years of President Obama's term were about passing legislation; the next two will be about protecting that legislation and getting reelected. Daley can help on both counts.

Once reelected, Obama will turn back to passing legislation, most likely on energy and immigration. Where Daley fits in in a second Obama term is unclear. He may only be there through 2012.
