The high school football season is over...

...in Illinois. Did you miss much of it? Did you miss all of it?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you will never get another chance to see Reilly O'Toole play quarterback for Wheaton Warrenville South. (But you may see him play for Illinois.) Or his favorite receiver, Titus Davis. Or running back Matt Rogers for that matter. (In fact, the whole starting offense is graduating.)

Nor will you get to see Maine South's crack receiving corps of Scott Derrick, Imran Khan or Luke Mottley. Gone also will be quarterback Chris Sujka and running back Michael Banks of Mount Carmel. And Jacob Brinlee of Lake Zurich, Malik Norman of Homewood-Flossmoor, Spencer Perry and EJ Webb of Loyola, Jahwon Akui and Travis Starks of St. Rita, Kevin Earl and Joe Cassata of Stevenson, Mark Hiben and Nick Burrello of Glenbard West, Kapri Bibbs of Plainfield North, Mark Iannotti and Shepard Little of Schaumburg and Cody Bobbit of Palatine.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. The 2010 season is in the history books.

So now what? Well, here's an -- admittedly -- incomplete list of key players that will be returning next year.

I can't wait, can you?

Maine South quarterback Matt Alviti. As Keith Jackson would say, "And he's o-o-only a soph-ah-more."

Maine South running back Paul Preston.

Maine South wide receiver Jimmy Frankos.

Mount Carmel running back Draco Smith.

Loyola quarterback Malcolm Weaver.

Loyola wide receiver Charlie Dowdle.

Loyola wide receiver Marquese Martin-Hayes.

Stevenson running back Anthony Bozin.

Montini wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp.

Glenbard West defensive lineman Tommy Schutt.

Glenbard West quarterback Daver Glawe.

Simeon quarterback Robert Gregory.
