Apparently, the University of Minnesota...

...missed out on offensive lineman Jake Bernstein of Crystal Lake South, who chose Vanderbilt over Minnesota and Colorado.

But the Golden Gophers still have a chance at offensive lineman Chris Bryant of Simeon:

Bryant has 10 offers, including Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Stanford and Arizona. He also is talking to Michigan State and Miami but hasn't received an offer. The 6-5, 330-pounder feels he has a lot to prove this season and will wait until after the season to make official visits.

''I don't want to go to my second or third choice,'' he said. ''My main focus is to put everything into my senior season. It's the first time I've played at tackle. College coaches want to see what I can do.''
