Leonard Skinner died on Monday...

...at the age of 77.

If that name sounds vaguely familiar, it should. Skinner was a high school gym teacher in Florida in the late 1960s who sent a group of students to the principal’s office because their hair was too long. The boys went on to form a band and named it after the teacher.

Proving to be a good sport, Mr. Skinner allowed the band to use a photo of his Leonard Skinner Realty sign for the inside of their third album.

“They were good, talented, hard-working boys,” Mr. Skinner once told The Florida Times-Union. “They worked hard, lived hard and boozed hard.”
