...high school football chatter, courtesy of the Chicago Sun-Times? Two Players of the Week include:

Reilly O'Toole, Wheaton Warrenville South (above), QB: 15-for-21, 275 yards, 3 TDs passing. He threw a touchdown pass on the Tigers' first play from scrimmage in 2010 and added two more TD passes after halftime as WW South pulled away to beat Hinsdale Central.

And,

Michael Banks, Mount Carmel, RB: 10 carries, 222 yards, 2 TDs rushing. Playing his third position in three seasons, Banks showed he's a quick study. He broke off scoring runs of 75 and 77 yards on consecutive carries vs. Simeon.

No. 13 Providence lost its opener to Morgan Park on Sunday, 16-14. Cause for panic down in New Lenox? Hardly. Rest assured; the Celtics will be in the hunt come November:

Providence's season-opening loss continued a perhaps surprising trend. The Celtics haven't won the first game of the year since beating Fenger 56-0 in 2004. Providence had lost to Lincoln-Way East in Week 1 in each of the past five seasons.

The Celtics will take on No. 4 Joliet Catholic (1-0) at Memorial Stadium in Joliet on Friday:

Joliet Catholic got some payback for last year's 29-28 loss to Montini in the Class 5A state championship game by knocking off the Broncos at Memorial Stadium last week. Now the Hilltoppers get a chance to avenge another of their 2009 losses when they take on the Celtics, who won last year's meeting 21-7.

(Loyola Academy travels to Montini this Saturday.)

Several head coaches enjoyed successful debuts. One was Stevenson's Bill McNamara, whose Patriots romped over Highland Park, 42-7. The Lincolnshire squad will travel to Glenbrook South on Friday for the Titans' home opener. Will Coach Mike Noll go 0-2 for the first time since arriving in Glenview?
